Program Summary

NONCREDIT ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE - LEVEL I - Certificate of Competency

This program is composed of two literacy level ESL courses. Instruction focuses on literacy-low beginning level listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon successful completion of the two required courses, students are eligible for a certificate of competency. Students who earn the certificate will be able to read basic texts, ask and respond to simple questions, and write simple sentences in English.
